Ravindra and Chapman ruled out of India ODIs

New Zealand have suffered a double injury blow ahead of their upcoming five-match One-Day International (ODI) series against India. Star all-rounder Rachin Ravindra and middle-order batter Mark Chapman have both been ruled out of the entire series due to ongoing rehabilitation from their respective injuries. The action gets underway on Wednesday, November 4, with the first ODI scheduled to be played at Eden Park in Auckland.Injury Updates: Caution Ahead of Test SeriesAn MRI scan revealed that Mark Chapman requires an additional two weeks of recovery to treat a left hamstring tear suffered during the European T20 Premier League in September.Meanwhile, Rachin Ravindra, who injured his right shoulder during a promotional shoot in September, still needs time before returning to full fielding capability.Addressing the injury setbacks, New Zealand head coach Rob Walter emphasized taking a precautionary approach, particularly with the Test series scheduled for later in the month:"Everyone knows what an asset Mark and Rachin are to this side so it's a shame they have to miss this series," Walter stated. "I caught up with Mark last week and although he's disappointed he's working hard to get back on the field. With Rachin, his shoulder hasn't quite recovered to a position where he could field comfortably in white-ball cricket, so with the Test series later this month we don't want to take any undue risks." Replacements & Squad ReshuffleTo cover for the missing duo, the Black Caps selection committee has restructured their squad across the five matches:Tim Seifert: Originally slated to feature only in the final two matches, Seifert has now been draft-in for the full five-match series.Henry Nicholls: The veteran batsman—who turns 35 later this month—earns a recall for the first three ODIs. His selection comes on the back of impressive domestic form, having scored 119 opening the batting for Canterbury in the Ford Trophy.Dean Foxcroft: Currently representing New Zealand A in their red-ball series against India A, Foxcroft will join the senior ODI squad for the final two games.Matthew Fisher: Initially picked for only the last two games, fast bowler Matthew Fisher will now remain with the squad for the entire series to bolster the pace department.Matt Henry: Having missed the latter half of the preceding T20I series, Henry joined the ODI squad on Monday and will undergo fitness assessments to determine his match readiness.Updated New Zealand ODI Squad vs IndiaFirst Three ODIs Squad:Mitchell Santner (c), Michael Bracewell, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Matthew Fisher, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham (wk), Daryl Mitchell, Henry Nicholls, Glenn Phillips, Tim Seifert, Nathan Smith, Will Young, Blair Tickner.Last Two ODIs Squad:Mitchell Santner (c), Finn Allen, Michael Bracewell, Kristian Clarke, Jacob Duffy, Matthew Fisher, Dean Foxcroft, Lockie Ferguson, Mitchell Hay (wk), Nick Kelly, Tim Seifert (wk), Blair Tickner, Will Young.
